Kolam is a geometrical line drawing composed of curved loops, drawn around a grid pattern of dots. These patterns are drawn on floor in southern part of India every morning with rice flour.
These patterns are symmetrical and drawn by connecting dots or drawing strings around dots which ends at the point of beginning. In a way, you can call it as a type of puzzle.
There are numerous designs that can be drawn. So, trying different patterns in set dots, improves the creativity of a person. It also therapeutic - ideal for stress relief & to improve hand-mind co-ordination.
